I'll have to search on that one...hmmm... In the mean time...try this one: Here are some stats and highlights...who am I? Late 40s started my racing career in California at Oakland Speedway (The Wall); Carrell Speedway, Gardena; West Coast Speedway, Vallejo; Memorial Stadium, Long Beach; Marchbanks Stadium, Hanford etc. During that time Dick Meyer and I drove Dodge Red Ram V-8s; one of my favorite cars to this day; which enabled the two of us to dominate West Coast racing in '52 and '53. Starting in 1953 we would head east once a year to race at Darlington. In 1955 I packed the family up and moved to the East Coast.
Ran both NASCAR Grand National and Convertible division in 1956 as a member of the Ford Team, run by Pete DePaolo. I was lucky and able to drive for many great car owners: Ray Fox, Cotton Owens, Petty Enterprise, Smokey Yunick, Holman-Moody and Wood Brothers. Am still partial to those #21 candy-apple red Ford Galaxies.
Starts: 216..........Poles: 21........Wins: 17 Tops 5's: 96..........Tops 10's: 126 Now I'm a proud member of RacersReunion.com

In 1963 while testing at Daytona my car swerved out of control and burst into flames. My good friend Tiny Lund pulled me from the wreckage, without regard for his own life. He was awarded the Carnegie Medal of Honor for his heriocs. Ironically Lund lost his life in a fiery acccident with teamate JD Mcduffee at Talledega driving an AJ King dodge. Contact Marvette, his daughter at marvinpanch.com. I see him from time to time...but probably won't until Sept. Check out this interview I did with him a couple of weeks ago; racersreunion.ning.com/video/video/show?id=1981311:Video:14299

In my first proffession, prior to racing, I had a mule named Kate who was a huge part of my business. I have a picture of her on my fireplace mantle with the rest of my family. Also, I was destined to play baseball until I turned over my Dad's tractor and hurt my throwing arm. NASCAR would not have been the same without me.....who am I?

First I was at the race in which Tiny lund died [me not the answer to question] still sticks with me even though i was like 6 OR 7
Second, my guess is Fireball Roberts since he received his nickname fireball from his fast pitches.

I am a driver a lot of fans have probably forgot or never heard of. I started one of the best tracks on the circuit but lost ownership. My footprints have never been placed there and as long as bruton is owner they probaby never will.
I am the only driver to ever win a race because i was the only car still running.
who am i and where did i win that race
