I think he should have gone with a younger driver. Why go with Mark Martin, He has never been able to close the deal. If his son decides he wants to race again there could be another retirement.

Rick had a young gun and couldn`t control him. Don`t know if J.D. and Joe can. Mark is still productive. Lets see what he can do.

Mark is still highly marketable. Why NOT go with him?

Mark is still highly marketable. Why NOT go with him? Because mark is 50 he will only be racing another year or two anyway. why not get a younger driver that you can have long term. In 2 years the team will have to start over again. also he has never been able to get it done. when it comes to it mark CAN NOT win the championship. he doesnt have it in him.

when you what your team to do good ' you put a good driver in the seat of your car'' mark has the know how to get the job done ''' a younger driver has to learn what the team owner wants from him to do for him' mark will do great for rick he will be a great help to the team'''

yea and then one year later they get to start looking again it doesnt make sense. You have 3 of the top drivers in nascar today, it would be wiser to find the future not the i couldnt do it in the past and i wont do it here driver

The Mark Martin move is a great one. Mark will make the chase, compete for a championship, and win a couple of races. They are grooming Landon Cassill to be their next young driver. He currently competes in the Nationwide Series and test their COT stuff. He's young and not quite ready for Cup yet.
